Luuk maakte het vanochtend mee en is nu herstellende. Nog in het ziekenhuis, wachtend op dokter Roos, de KNO arts die hem in 5 minuten van zijn keel- èn neusamandelen af hielp en terloops ook nog even zijn beide oren ‘doorprikte’.

Hoe stoer en dapper Luuk de dag ook begon – hij stond om 6:15u naast ons bed, was er helemaal klaar  voor en leek er zelfs zin in te hebben – het hoopje ellende dat we terug kregen uit de OK had er al een stuk minder zin in :’(

Inmiddels zijn we twee koude raketjes verder en ligt Luuk loom een dvd te kijken. Slikken is nog pijnlijk, maar onder opvoedkundig verantwoorde ouderlijke dwang wordt er wel wat gedronken. We wachten rustig af wat komen gaat, vanmiddag gaan we lekker weer naar huis.

Spataderen, hoe kom je er aan? Je komt er in ieder geval vanaf door via een bloedvat bij je knie een laser in je been te laten brengen, die van binnenuit dat bloedvat kan verschrompelen. Pijnlijk? Welnee, voel je niets van. Al komt dat vooral doordat je in het been een stuk of 6 verdovingsinjecties krijgt. En die doen wel pijn! In beide benen, in mijn geval. Aaahhhhh.

Maar goed, nu dus met superstrakke steunkousen naar huis en dan herstellen.

Only a little over a week ago I was in the RKZ OR with her for the c-section. Right now I am sitting in the coffee stand in the Slotervaartziekenhuis with our gorgous baby girl while my wife is in the OR undergoing surgery. Again her fate is completely out of my hands… Many positive thoughts to everyone in the OR, especially to my lovely wife. What a relief it must be for her if the back and leg pain is finally gone after all those months. Fingers crossed!

Picture this: Luuk is sitting at the dining table having a sandwich for lunch, while I am closeby preparing a bottle of milk for his 4 month old brother Björn. Björn is having a quick nap in the playpen on the other side of the room. I had just started to stream some music using my PS3 and TVersity which finally works again after solving some network issues (thanks Remko!). Going through my music library I came across Umphrey’s McGee, an alternative rock band I had not listened to in a while. “Great, let’s listen to that” I thought. And for the fun of it, just a little louder than usual. Ok, great stuff, no worries.

At some point during the first track Björn awakes and starts to cry a bit. Hey, it’s feeding time, so that’s understandable right? Well, Luuk had a different take on that.Luuk hears Björn’s crying getting a bit louder, and from his chair at the table starts to try to comfort Björn. “Don’t cry Björn, don’t cry!” . Ahh, how sweet of him to do that for his baby brother, I am thinking while still in the kitchen. Luuk starts to repeat his comforting words, louder now to make sure Björn hears him. Then he says, “don’t cry Björn, don’t be afraid!”

I stop, puzzled. Why would he think Björn might be afraid? So I asked him…”Luuk, what could Björn be afraid of?”. Luuk’s answer was as simple as it was confronting: “The music!”

Vijf weken na het afnemen van de vlokkentest zijn we inmiddels beland, maar vandaag was daar dan toch eindelijk het telefoontje vanuit het AMC. Met verontschuldigingen dat het zo lang had geduurd, dat dan weer wel. Inmiddels hadden we zelf de afgelopen 3 weken al 3 keer gebeld om te vragen hoe het er voor stond, en telkens kregen we te horen dat het onderzoek nog niet afgerond was. Uiteindelijk bleek het om ‘ordinair’ te weinig handjes te gaan, oftewel te veel werk en te weinig mensen.

Nu dus toch een positieve uitslag. Zoals gezegd zijn we die 5 weken wachten wel doorgekomen, maar na een paar weken krijg je er toch wel genoeg van. We hebben onze positieve instelling weten te behouden, hoewel het de afgelopen anderhalve week wel zeuren werd… “Ik ben er nou wel klaar mee, waarom bellen ze niet”…

Het afgelopen weekend zijn we samen in Wenen geweest, en heeft Luuk gelogeerd bij opa & oma Horvath. Het idee was dat we dus even alles van ons konden laten afglijden, want “tegen die tijd moeten we de uitslag toch wel hebben” (dachten zij tijdens het boeken van de trip). Niet dus, maar we kunnen niet ontkennen dat we toch lekker hebben genoten in Wenen (Sacher Torte? Dat eet je dus bij Café / Hotel Sacher, en nergens anders!) Wink

Met dit goede nieuws breekt dus weer een spannende en drukke tijd aan… Wat gaan we doen met de kamers, Luuk krijgt nieuw meubilair, de zolder moet nu toch eindelijk eens afgemaakt want waar moet Rick anders heen met al z’n foto en PC ‘zooi’… Genoeg te doen, maar we verheugen ons er op!
